As NEC issues data on candidates nominated for local & MP elections
C4C SAM SUMANA SURPRISES ALL WITH A STRONG SHOWING
The newly formed Coalition for Change (C4C) party with former Vice President Hon. Alhaji Chief Sam Sumana as a presidential candidate has surprised many with a show of strength right across Sierra Leone. C4C has been able to field candidates nationwide for almost all parliamentary seats being contested and for a vast majority of local council seats as well.
The party was only given its final registration certificate a few weeks ago. This means the C4C had been quietly working underground whilst waiting for its final certificate.
Yesterday Tuesday, January 30th, 2018, Sam Sumana also tested his popularity in the center of the capital city and received an appreciable crowd at Rawdon Street who gathered to listen to him with his wife and other C4C stalwarts by his side.
Meanwhile, data released by National Electoral Commission (NEC) indicates C4C beat even the populist Kandeh Yumkella’s NGC party insofar as parliamentary seats are concerned. C4C was behind only the traditional giant SLPP and APC parties.
There are 132 seats to contest for nationwide. Here is data from NEC as to how many seats each party has put forth candidates to contest:
APC 132 MP seats
SLPP 132 MP seats
C4C 129 MP seats
NGC 127 MP seats
CDP 109 MP seats
ADP 35 MP seats
Meanwhile, in a subsequent edition, Madam Elizabeth Foray, C4C Global Spokesperson will speak exclusively with Awareness Times Newspaper on what is the secret behind the surprise sprung by Sam-Sumana and his C4C.
